- SLOAN, Ithamar C. - Born in Madison County, New York; received
a common-school
- education; adopted the profession of law; removed to Wisconsin
in 1854; in 1858 and 1860 he was chosen District Attorney of
Rock County; and in 1862 was elected a Representative, from Wisconsin,
to the Thirty-eighth Congress, serving on the Committee on Public
Lands, and also on that on Expenses in the War Department. Re-elected
to the Thirty-ninth Congress, serving on the Committees on the
Death of President Lincoln, Claims, and Expenses of the War Department.
