- NOGGLE, David; was born in Franklin County, Pennsylvania,
October 30, 1809; received a
- common school education, and even that with great difficulty;
removed, with his father, to Ohio in 1820; in 1836 removed to
Illinois, where he studied law, and was admitted to the bar;
in 1840 removed to Beloit, Wisconsin; in 1845 was made Postmaster
of that place; resigned in 1848; was a member of the Constitutional
Convention of 1846; of the Wisconsin legislature in 1855 and
1857; was a Circuit Judge of the State from 1838 to 1866; in
1869 was appointed Chief Justice of the Superior Court of Idaho;
re-appointed in 1873; on account of failing health resigned the
position in 1875, and removed to San Francisco, California.
