- EATON, was born in Colchester, Ct., June 21, 1842; fitted
for college at Phillips Academy, Andover. University of Göttingen,
Ger., '65-'67; Ph.D., Göttingen, 1867; instructor in Chemistry,
Amherst Coll., '67-'68; Professor of Chemistry and Natural Science,
Beloit Coll., '68-'73 ; Professor of Chemistry and Mineralogy,
Beloit Coll., '73-'77. Author of a pamphlet on "Metric System
of Weights and Measures," and " Elements of Qualitative
Analysis." Died at Beloit, Wis., Jan. 5, 1877. Married,
Jan. 25, 1873, Abbie Clark, dau. of John Proctor FISK, of Beloit,
Wis. One child. [Alumnus of Amherst College, 1865]
