- WARD, was born in Abington, June 25, 1835; fitted for college
with his father, and at Phillips Academy, Andover. Studied theology
with his father, and at Union T. S., '56-'57 ; Andover T. S.,
'58-'59; tutor, Beloit Coll., '57-'58; s.s., Oskaloosa, Kans.,
'59-'60, ordained there, Jan. 8, 1860, and p., '60-'61; teacher,
Williston Seminary, Easthampton, '61; at Utica Free Academy,
N.Y., '63-'65; Professor of Latin, Ripon Coll., Wis., '65-'67;
associate editor of the "Independent," N.Y. City, '68-'70;
superintending editor, since '70, residing in Newark. N.J. D.D.,
Rutgers, and Univ. of City of N.Y., 1873. Contributor to "Bibliotheca
Sacra," and other periodicals. Member of American Oriental
Society. Married, Aug. 6, 1809, Ellen Maria, dau. of Rev. Erastus
