Russell, Sept. 4, 1813; fitted for college at New Haven, Ct.
Teacher, Chatham Academy, Savannah, Ga., '39-'42; East Windsor
T.I., '42-'43; teacher and preacher, Liberty Co., Ga., '43-'45;
s.s., Peru, Ill., '45-'46, ordained as Presbyterian there, Oct.
4, 1846, and p., '46-'51; principal of Elgin Seminary, Ill.,
'52-'55; farmer, Beloit, Wis., '55-'65. Died from consumption,
at Beloit, Wis., July 12, 1865. Married, (1) May 4, 1848, Melissa
E.,dau. of Ralph LORD, of Kenosha, Wis., who died Mar. 19, 1849;
(2) Apr. 29, 1851, Mary, sister of his first wife. Two children.
