"Harvey Hoyt"

Harvey HOYT was born December 27, 1812, in Pompey, Onondaga County, NY, the son of
Noah and Sally (BROOKS) Hoyt. Married his first wife Emily MORSE, daughter of Sion and Polly (RIPLEY) MORSE, in NY about 1840. After their marriage moved to Pennsylvania and lived in Elk and Mc Kean counties. Came to Rock County, WI, in the 1850s, lived in the town of Rock and in Janesville. Harvey and Emily Hoyt had the following children:
 
  1. Juliette, b. March 1840 in NY married John Orr;
  2. Franklin Abranden Hoyt, born June 26, 1843 in Brookville, PA. married Hannah Gilbert;
  3. Ellen Amelia, born June 25, 1845 in McKean Co. Pa., and married Silas Paul Gibbs;
  4. Katherine Hoyt, born 1847 in PA., married William Reed;
  5. Mary A. Hoyt, born 1849 in PA., died young;
  6. Mary Hoyt, born Sept 12, 1853 in Rock County, WI., married David Bartley;
  7. Wellington Orlando Hoyt, born 1854 in Rock Co. WI, no further info;
  8. Lucy Jeanette, born May 18, 1858 in Rock Co. WI. Married William Gallup;
  9. Harriet, born Sept 12, 1857 in Rock Co. WI., married Lawrence Galen;
  10. Emma Victoria , born May 1862 in Rock County, WI., died August 15, 1877 in Salinas City, CA, of Diptheria.
 
Emily (MORSE) HOYT died some time between 1861 and 1865 in Rock County. Harvey married his 2nd wife, Mary (HOOBAN) CASEY, a widow of Michael CASEY from County Cork, Ireland. They had one child, Theresa Elizabeth, born Dec 23, 1867 in Rock County, WI, who married Charles DRUM.
Harvey and Mary HOYT later moved to Powers, Menominee County, MI. Mary died on April
15, 1881 in Powers, MI. She was buried at the Oakhill Cemetery in Janesville, WI. Harvey married for his third wife, Cathrin HILL, on Nov 22, 1881, in Powers, MI. Harvey HOYT was a Baptist and worked for the railroad and continued to move west as the railroad expanded. He died March 30, 1892, and is buried in Spaulding, Menominee County MI.

Mrs. Charles DRUM, 70, long a resident of Janesville, died at 10 p.m. Friday in her home, 525
Cherry street, following a long illness. Formerly Theresa Elizabeth HOYT, Mrs. DRUM was the daughter of Mary HOBAN HOYT and Harvey HOYT and she was born Dec 23, 1867, in the town of Rock. She was married to Charles DRUM, Feb 5, 1881 in Powers, Mich. Mr. and Mrs. DRUM observed their 57th wedding anniversary this month.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Leslie and Stanley DRUM, Janesville; two daughters,
Mrs. P. V. SCHUSTER and Mrs. F. H. HENDERSON, both of Aurora, ILL; one adopted daughter, Mrs. Mary ELSER, Los Angeles, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday in her home and at 9 in St. Patrick's church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet, cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m. Sunday.
