- SELDEN E. OTIS, farmer and dairyman, Sec. 15; P.O. Janesville;
born in 1828, in Middlesex
- Co., Conn.; came to Wisconsin in 1854, and settled in Harmony,
Rock Co.; removed to his present location in 1866. Married Miss
Mary, daughter of John CARGILL, of Suffolk Co., N.Y., in 1849;
they have seven children - Minnie, George, Lillian (Charles died
in 1864), Jesse, Fran and Hattie. He has 170 acres devoted to
oats, corn, wheat and rye, besides his dairy business, which
he has followed during the past ten years, and he now has forty
or more cows. Mr. O. is a member of Janesville City Lodge, No.
90, I.O.O.F. He and family attend the First Congregational Church
of Janesville.
