- DANIEL McKILLIPS - Born in Bradford, Orange County, Vermont,
on March 17, 1807. Is
- the second son of David and Resign McKILLIPS, who emigrated
to Rock County, Wisconsin, accompanied by their son Daniel, the
subject of this sketch. Mr. McKILLIPS was married on the 1st
day of January, 1831, to Almira, daughter of Harvey and Phila
WOODWARD, of Bradford, Vermont. They emigrated to Rock County,
Wisconsin, during the fall of 1837, where he bought a claim of
three hundred and twenty acres of unimproved land, which is now
under a fair state of cultivation, with a good house and other
necessary buildings. One-half of his land he afterwards sold
to his father. Mr. McKILLIPS assisted in the organization of
Johnstown Township. Politically he is a strong advocate of the
principles of the old Democratic party; is a strong supporter
of all religious and educational interests. He came to the West
poor, but as a reward for his industry, close application to
business, and honest dealings, has been successful in acquiring
property, and is now comfortably situated; has a snug home and
surroundings, and ranks among the influential citizens of the
community in which he resides.
