"Robert Byron Treat"

Dr. Robert Byron TREAT. One of the Janesville's early physicians was Dr. R. B. TREAT, who
was born in New York state, August, 2, 1824, graduated from the Eclectic Medical College, at Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1847, and began practice in Janesville in 1848, driving from La Porte, Ind., where he was married, through Michigan City, Chicago and Beloit.
Dr. TREAT was one of the founders of the Janesville Dailey and Weekly "Free Press" in 1853,
and was mayor of the city in 1860, and again in 1863.
In 1871 Dr. TREAT removed to Chicago, where he was in practice up to within a year of his
death, which occurred December 20, 1897. His widow and son are still residing in Janesville.
