- ANTHONY I. SCHMIT, M. D., who resides at the corner of Bluff
- and Liberty streets, Beloit, Wis., with offices in the Ritscher
block, No. 355 Grand avenue, was born in Luxemburg, Germany,
in 1863.
- He received his early education in the common schools of
his native
- place, and his college education at the gymnasium of Luxemburg.
He graduated from that institution in 1881.
- In 1882 and in 1883 he studied philosophy and natural sciences
at
- the University of Strassburg, and passed the examination
for the Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in 1882, and that of Master
of Arts and sciences in 1884.
- He then studied medicine at Strassburg, Heidelberg and Munich,
- Germany, and in 1889 passed the examination of the state
board of examiners and was given a license to practice medicine
in his home country.

- Dr. SCHMIT came to the united States in 1890, and after having
practiced medicine in Oconto
- and Sharon, Wis., he permanently located in Beloit, Wis.,
in 1903.
- In society matters, the doctor is a member of the Masonic
fraternity, the Knights of Pythias,
- Modern Woodmen of the World, the Elks, Columbian Knights
and several other fraternal organizations.
- Doctor SCHMIT was married November 22, 1905, to Miss Elsie
Winkley, of Clinton, Wis.,
- who is a graduate of the Clinton high school and the Whitewater
college.
