- WILLIAM TAYLOR, dealer in lumber, grain and live stock, Edgerton;
born in Boxburghshire,
- Scotland, Oct. 8, 1838; his parents came to America when
he was 1 year of age; they were Robert and Mary (SMITH) TAYLOR,
who settled in Allegany Co., N.Y.; moved to Wisconsin and settled
in Spring Valley, Rock Co., where they own 640 acres. Mr. William
TAYLOR received his early education at a district school, and
finished it in Milwaukee Commercial College; about 1863, commenced
operations here for a commission house, afterward starting in
business for himself, which he now carries on; extent of his
business is about $200,000 per annum, one-half being live stock;
elected Town Clerk of Fulton in 1866, serving until 1872; this
year he is Chairman of the Board of Supervisors; he is a member
of the Masonic Lodge, and also of the I.O.O.F., of Edgerton.
