- CHARLES LE BROWN, Deputy Sheriff, Rock Co.; P.O. Edgerton;
born in Truxton, Cortland
- Co., N.Y., July 25, 1826; son of Gilbert BROWN; he came West
in 1852; came to Wisconsin and located in Edgerton, in the fall
of 1860, and engaged in buying and selling horses for the Government;
in 1862, started the livery business, which he still carries
on. He married Sarah J. GUTHRIE, daughter of John GUTHRIE, of
Rhode Island; they have four children - Helen, born Aug. 16,
1848; Mary Emma, May 30, 1851; Florence A., Jan. 2, 1855; Louis,
Nov. 5, 1859. In the spring of 1864, was elected Constable;
elected Supervisor in 1867, and Town Treasurer; in 1866, was
appointed Deputy Sheriff, which office he still holds. Is a
member of I.O.O.F. and Temple of Honor. Attends Seventh Day
Baptist Church. Republican.
