- WILLIAM SCHENCK, farmer Sec. 27; P.O. Shopiere; born in Montgomery,
Co., N.Y., in
- 1810; came to Wisconsin in 1842, locating at Shopiere, where
he remained two years, and then moved to La Prairie, and purchased
a farm of 240 acres, his present homestead. Married, in 1833,
Miss J. YOUST, a native of New York, who died March 15, 1858,
at La Prairie; they had eight children - Dorcas, born Oct. 18,
1834; Rachel, born Oct. 2, 1836; Peter, born Jan. 29, 1839, died
Nov. 16, 1864; William, born April 11, 1841; Nicholas, born Sept.
12, 1843; Edward T., born Aug. 29, 1846, died in Oregon, Feb.
17, 1877; Jacob, born Sept. 30, 1848, died Sept. 14, 1870; Sarah
J., born Feb. 17, 1852, died Feb. 9, 1875. He married again,
December 1865, Miss Mary MASON; they have one child - Lorraine,
born June 3, 1872. Mr. SCHENCK was Chairman of the Board of Supervisors;
Republican.
