ELLIS has been in the shoe
- business fifteen years; was five years with the firm of Progree
& Smith, of Detroit, as superintendent, and previously at
New Haven, Mass. Mr. E. was born in Plymouth, N.H., March 26,
1839. Married Emily WRIGHT May 16, 1861; she was born in Ashton,
N.H., March 13, 1839; they have two children - Charles W., born
April 26, 1864, and E. S., born May 6, 1866. Mr. E. was educated
at Northfield Seminary, N.H. They belong to the Episcopal Church.
They came to Janesville in February, 1878.
