was born in Erie, Erie Co., Penn.,
- Jan. 4, 1856, and came to Wisconsin in 1856 and located in
Beloit; on the death of his father, he entered into the jewelry
business on his own account; the business was original started
by his father, in 1852, on a small capital, and has gradually
increased until it is considered to be the first in its line
in Beloit.
