- S. S. GOODALE, City Treasurer; was born in Amherst, Mass.,
Aug. 31, 1823; came to Beloit
- July 3, 1845, locating at Troy, Walworth Co.; from Amherst
he moved to Troy, Wis., where he engaged in farming; from Troy
he moved to Beloit, where he followed farming for ten years,
during the winters of which time he manufactured brooms, which
were sold in the neighboring towns and Chicago; he then took
a situation with the Beloit Paper Mill company, and afterward
with the Rock River Paper Company, in whose employ he now is.
Mr. GOODALE is at present City Treasurer of Beloit, and serving
his second term. He married, Feb. 28, 1848, Ruth Ellen SMITH,
of Westfield, Mass.; has three children living - Rufus A., Sarah
F. and Frank H. Mr. and Mrs. GOODALE and daughter are members
of the First Congregational Church at Beloit.
