- HENRY SLAWSON, farmer, Sec. 7; P.O. Leyden; came to Wisconsin
in 1846, locating in
- Walworth Co.; lived there five years; removed to Harmony
Township came and settled in township of Janesville on land he
now occupies in 1858; born in Albany Co., N.Y., in 1810. Married
Jane BLACK, a native of New York, in 1842; she died in 1848,
leaving seven children - Sullivan, James, George, Amelia, Lorinda,
born 1852, died 1877; Julie, Frerelyon. Married as second wife,
Sarah HIGGINS, a native of Lowell, Mass., in 1859, who died in
1862; they had two children - Eugene and Lorinda. Married his
third wife, Jane VIRGIN, a daughter of Mr. Johnston VIRGIN, of
Rock Co.; they have two boys and two girls - William, Harry,
Effa and Nellie. Has been Constable and Postmaster one term
each; is Director of School Board at present. Owns 112 acres;
raises grain and corn and stock for the Chicago and Milwaukee
markets.
