- FREDERICK GARLT, farmer, Sec. 9; P.O. Janesville; came to
Wisconsin in 1854, locating in
- Pierce Co.; came to Rock Co. in 1866; bought his present
homestead of eighty-five acres, in 1864. Married, in 1866, Miss
Mary McGEE, daughter of Thomas McGEE, of Janesville Township.
Enlisted, September, 1861, in the 12th Wis. Inf.; served four
years; mustered out July, 1865; joined regiment at Madison; was
through engagements at St. Joseph, West Fort, Fort Scott, Fort
Leavenworth, Fort Riley; then was sent back to Fort Leavenworth,
then down the Mississippi River; sent from St. Louis to Columbus,
from there to Memphis; was at the siege of Vicksburg, Memphis
and Atlanta; also Hot Springs, Ark. School Board Director at
present; Republican.
