- JOHN H. HAVILAND, farmer, Secs. 19 and 20; P.O. Janesville;
born in New York in
- September, 1842; came to Wisconsin 1859; located in Magnolia
Township; lived there four years; then moved to La Prairie, where
he purchased 160 acres; in 1868, added eighty acres more; in
1874, purchased 160 acres in Dane County, also forty acres in
Sec. 19; Mr. HAVILAND makes a specialty of raising tobacco, grains
and stock, also is engaged in the manufacture of cheese, having
made as high as 250 lbs. per day. Married, in the fall of 1861,
Miss Mary C. WEBSTER, a native of New York; had three children
- Merritt H., born July, 1870, Dora L., Oct. 22, 1872, Mary T.,
Feb. 20, 1877; belongs to the Society of Friends; Republican.
