- M. J. HOLMES, station-master, Milton Junction; born in Stoddard,
Cheshire Co., N.H., Jan. 26,
- 1837; son of Luke and Sally (CORREY) PARKER, who came West
and settled in Wisconsin in 1842, at Otter creek, where he received
his early education at district school, and finished at Milton
Academy. He followed farming till he was 21 years of age, and
then commenced as carpenter with his brother Charles. In April,
1863, he entered the employ of the C.N.R.R.; July 21, 1865, was
appointed freight agent and station-master C.N.R.R. and C.M.
& St. P. R.R. Married, August, 1860, Miss Frances J. WANDELL,
daughter of Thomas WANDELL, of Milton Township; they have three
children - Cora S., Flora G. and Harry; member No. 161, Masonic
Lodge of Milton; liberal in religion, and in politics a Democrat.
His parents, before coming to Wisconsin, resided in Trenton
Township, Oneida Co., N.Y., for five years.
