"Archibald Jack"

ARCHIBALD JACK, farmer, Sec. 34; P.O. Beloit; born in Ireland Oct. 3, 1823; son of James
JACK, who came to Turtle in January, 1846, and was one of the oldest and most respected settlers. Archibald, in 1851, bought 115 acres in Turtle, in Sections 33 and 34, and, through industry and frugality, has a good home and is in comfortable circumstances. Married Matilda FLETCHER, daughter of William FLETCHER, Oct. 26, 1853; have had three children - Osbert W., born Nov. 14, 1854; Cora M., March 25, 1860; Frank M., Oct. 29, 1805. Osbert was graduated at Beloit College in 1877, and has been teaching in Argyle. The FLETCHER family were among the first settlers in the county; they have had several reunions, one at Lowell, Mass.; several hundred assembled, and a finer class of men and women were seldom brought together.
