John's estate record contains several documents of interest. The first
one
that I saw was a "Renunciation {?} estate of John Wagenman decd." filed
Jan.
13. 1866. It reads: "To Michael {S.} {Thirwachter} Esqr Register of
wills of
Berks County. We the undersigned oldest Sons of John Wagenman late
of Albany
Township said County deceased, do hereby renounce our right to act
as
Administrator of our said decd Fathers Estate and request you to appoint
our
younger Brother David Wagenman Administrator of Said Estate." The document
is signed by Peter Wagenman and Jonas Wagenman and witnessed by Elias
S.
Frey and Henry {?} {Croll}.
This was the document that I had been looking for. It was the first
one that
I saw that confirmed that my g.g. grandfather David was the
son of John
Wagenman.
John's estate record also contains a petition much like the one in Peter's
records titled "Petition for the appointment of three commisioners
to make
partition or appraise the real estate late of John Wagenman, deceased."
It
was entered into the record on 24 May 1866. The petition states "...That
the
said John Wagenman lately died intestate leaving {?} Eight children.
to wit.
Peter Wagenman, of Mercer County Penna
Jonas Wagenman of Lehigh County,
David Wagenman, William Wagenman and Elias Wagenman of Berks County,
Lydia, wife of Joshua Smith, late Lydia Wagenman, of Lehigh County,
Fanny, widow of Charles Wessner, deceased, late Fanny Wagenman of the
State of Iowa, and
Rebecca wife of Philip Wink, late Rebecca Wagenman, of Albany Township
Berks Co, and no widow;..."
It also goes on to describe two parcels of land that John owned and
lists the names of the neighboring landholders. It asks the court to appoint
Solomon Fister, Paul Gehringer, and Aaron Stump to be the commisioners.
The document is signed by each of the named children and the signatures
of the daughters were each witnessed by two other persons and also includes
their husband's or late husband's name.
