I have to state that after
years of doing this, I am convinced that
Christian Martin is the
father of John, Christian and William. It's a shame
that no documentation yet
proves the link. CM, as I like to call him,
appears in Vincent Twp.,
Chester County around 1730/32 with Casper Wagaman.
I assume Casper is a brother.
Through a marriage record or two (of a second
marriage for CM and his
daughters marriage), it can be seen that the family
is Lutheran, but there is
little other info.
I have no documentation to
link John Philip and Christian Martin, although
it is possible that they
are brothers or cousins. I do feel that the Jacob
in PA is John Philip's brother,
as Jacobs children (who settled in Franklin
County PA) follow a VERY
similar naming pattern to John Philip's family,
including a Philip and Jacob,
which has caused some confusion in the past.
Info from the "Lineage Clues
" leads me to think that Christian Martin is the Christmartin
born before 1704 in Lambsheim Germany, but again, there is NO proof
yet. Since the source from Lambsheim is only until about 1705 or
so, John Philip wouldnt be there - he was born 1713 (ship records
stated his age as 23 with his signature...). So, it remains possible
that
John Philip and Christian
Martin could be brothers.
A contradiction to this theory
is seen on familysearch.org, where Christian
Martin and Casper's father
is listed as Abraham (from Germany), with CM
and Casper born in the US.
I have NEVER seen any documentation for this
information, and after some
questioning, still have no found any information
which supports this claim.
Thats not to say its not true, but I wont "buy"
it until I see some solid
documentation for that.
Later post about Abraham
Also there is an ID# for
Abraham if you want to go to
www.familysearch.org/Search/
to see for yourself:
Abraham (AFN:114C-7FW), born
about 1680, Wuertemberg, Germany
Wife, Mrs Wagamon, born
about 1680, Wuertemberg, Germany
Children:
Casper (AFN:114C-CKF), born
about 1716, of Chester County, PA
Christian Martin (AFN:114C-7HB),
born about 1714, of Chester County, PA
Interestingly enough, it
lists the Franklin County Philip (originally
Cumberland County, born
1747) as the son of Casper, not of Jacob Wagaman as
that family contends.

*Aimee's note: A later marriage for a Christian Martin is
documented, so perhaps Elisabeth
died before 1765. Of course, this is
the record I still have
to locate and post.
