An Australian with the surname Triplett is probably descended from one of two people:
John Triplett was born in Cornwall in 1803 and arrived in South Australia with his wife and children in 1849. A miner and a farmer, his descendants are scattered throughout the country.
Henry Triplett was born in London about 1843 and arrived in Melbourne on an unknown date. He was running a basket making shop in Little Latrobe St. Melbourne by September 18661. He married Mary Cowan in 1875 and they have many descendants who at least for the first few generations remained concentrated in Melbourne. The basket making business survived until 19552.
