Lee Center - Oct 30 - Jacob Zimmer, aged 80 years, a resident of Lee Center for nearly 48 years, died at his home in this village yesterday morning. Jacob Zimmer was born in Germany in 1832. His parents moved to this country when he was about 10 years old and took up a farm near Constableville. He remained there until 1862 when he rented a farm near Lee Center. Later he purchased a place about four miles from Lee Center and had resided in that section ever since. About eight years ago he retired from active work and moved to this village. He was married over 60 years ago to Miss Catherine Laufer of New York City. Mr. Zimmer was a lifelong Democrat, but never took an active part in politics. He was well known and highly esteemed. His death will be greatly mourned by his many friends and acquaintainces. Besides his wife he is survived by three daughters and two sons, Mrs John Streun, Mrs. William Platt and Mrs. William Reigler, all of Lee Center, George Zimmer of Chicago and Charles Zimmer of Martinsburg, two brothers and one sister, John P. Zimmer of Kansas, Gregory Zimmer of Constableville and Mrs. Eva Dembler of Utica.
