When he lived in Nauvoo, our Uncle Orrin Porter Rockwell had been Joseph Smith’s best friend for many years, but he wasn’t yet our uncle, of course. That didn’t happen until he married Great Grandpa Franklin Neff’s little sister Mary Ann, in Brigham Young’s office in Great Salt Lake City, Brigham himself officiating, 3 May 1854.

Porter had a homestead in Nauvoo, and perhaps a tenancy as well.
