Oliver & Hepzibah Wheeler
|
|
These are the folks I came mainly to see. Remember Hepzibah
Munroe Wheeler? the one I blame for my family history addiction?
Well, here she is, with her husband Oliver Wheeler.
They’re my fifth great-grandparents and our principal link
to a whole lot of history and heritage.
Here’s where she fits into the Munroes
of Lexington. Also how some of her descendants connect who are buried
in the Hillsborough Center Cemetery. Hepzibah’s parents, 6GGP Nathan and Mercy Benjamin Munroe, were among the early settlers of Carlisle, Massachusetts.
The local veterans gave
Oliver the star and the flag to mark him as
a veteran of the Revolution. The cemetery was full of flags, that day.
*At that time, I knew that the Vital Records showed her as born in Billerica. Since then, I’ve learned that that part of Billerica is now part of Carlisle. I could have bought roses in Carlisle Centre, much closer to her birthplace, had I known.
