Buckman Tavern, Lexington

This is Valerie M. Hoffman, the Tavern’s principal Historical Interpreter. We swapped yarns for a while, and she helped me solve the room’s lighting problems. Major thanks to Val and to the Lexington Historical Society, especially its President George Comtois, who graciously gave permission for the photo shoot.

After a 19th-century monument update, Matthew and Abigail share a headstone in the Old Burying Ground at Lexington. Their inscription makes good reading. I’d like to be remembered with such warmth.
