Page 1. From Chicago. Gus Spell has moved his saloon to Seger. -

Mr. E. A. Williams will open a saloon in Chicago within a few days. -

Mrs. Mary Wood pleaded guilty to the charge of assault and battery and paid her fine of five dollars and costs. -

Mr. Andrew and Joel Wisdom were arrested upon the charge of killing one of Mr. Claunch's steers, and bound over to district court.


From Wood. Miss Lily Scott and sister Mrs. Wolford of Jacksboro, Texas, are visiting their mother Mrs. Scott near Wood. -

Mrs. Hunt of Illinois is visiting her daughter Mrs. Crawford. She likes the country and is going to locate here. -

Prof. Nigh opened his subscription school at Trail school house Monday last. His school deserves to be well patronized. -

Mr. A. J. Port has gone to Mangum to consult a physician. Mr. Harry Smith carried him over. Mr. Port's health is very poor.

From Seger - Gus Spell has bought the Palace saloon. -

Wilson McNeal started last Monday for a visit to Kansas and Iowa. -

Mr. Barnes who was badly stabbed some time ago is about well. -

Mrs. F. M. Aspley and daughter, Miss Roberts Aspley, arrived from Sherman, Texas, Friday. -

Some gentlemen from Decatur, Ill, have taken claims north of town, and will lease school land and start a sheep ranch.


From Columbia - Mrs. Birges is up froim Belcher, Texas. -

Msrs. R. C. Moore and L. H. Lemmons returned from Oklahoma City last week.

Page 4. James Brennan has bought the building occupied by the Herald-Senteniel.

On Wednesday last when L. H. Lemmons and Rufus Hays were on their way to Ft. Sill, they were attacked by two mounted men with winchesters. Several shots were fired and their escape was maraculous. Mr. Lemmons immediately came to town and swore out a warrant for Mr. Williams and Mr. Haile whom he states made the attack. The cause of the trouble, he says, grew out of the contest now being carried on between Mr. Lemmons and Williams. Deputy Bob Moore arrested the defendants and brought them to town, where they waived examination and gave bond for their appearance.
