Welcome to this
Little History website, about two small villages in the English Midlands.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to them.

The core of the site is an e-book of the rare printed edition of this short work which through documentary evidence traces the history of the villages from medieval times to the early twentieth century. Comprehensive new indexes of personal names and places, and a glossary of archaic, historical and architectural terms used, are provided to aid readers of both new and original editions.

There are many village photographs and other illustrations here, with background information, and links to associated sites. The whole text of Miss Dickins' book, plus additions, can be downloaded as linked and bookmarked pdf files. A notable section of the site is that devoted to villagers who served their country in the Great War and in World War Two. And do listen to the peals of the church bells!

Please note that the website has been designed using Internet Explorer 8, and that certain minor stylistic features may not be available if another browser is used, although pages have also been tested using Firefox.

Click on the coats of arms to find out more, or on the writer's portrait above
to see original illustrations and associated photographs and drawings ..........

... and here for the Community Website of Cherington, Stourton, & (neighbouring) Sutton-under-Brailes, with news of events and activities from the three villages.
