International Center for Rural Culture and Art
Allerton, Iowa

This 93-acre site, located one mile east of Allerton, Iowa is home to one of Iowa's few remaining round barns.  The fully restored 50-foot diameter barn, originally built in 1912, features a spectacular loft, free of any support columns due to its web-like construction.  Restoraton of the 1869 country schoolhouse is complete and restoration is underway on the 1887 New York Christian Church.  These landmarks help to demonstrate how our ancestors  lived, worked and worshipped during a time when nails were square and roads were dirt.
