Eaton Pension

Mrs S J Eaton, of near Water Valley, recently received a check from the Federal Government for $4,986.00; the amount being due her on back-pension for 28 years.

Mr Eaton was a Federal Soldier during the Civil War and Mrs Eaton was his fourth wife. After his death she was unable to locate certain papers necessary for the payment of the yearly pension. Only recently were the papers found and the money which had been piling up each year was paid in a lump sum. She will continue to receive the annual pension.

Seven sons of Mrs Eaton were in the county last week and a division of the property was made. On Saturday she and the seven boys came to town to settle up the business and incidentally to have a group picture made. The boys are: J F Eaton, age 50, or Ravenden Springs; W H Eaton, age 48, of Hartville, Mo; J T Eaton, age 44, of Springfield, Mo; J H Eaton, age 42, of Pocahontas; D L Eaton, age 40, of Hartville, Mo; F B Eaton, age 38, of Water Valley; and B H Eaton, age 32 of Ravenden.

Mrs Eaton was 75 years of age on her last birthday. She was reared in this county but spent a part of her life in Missouri. She came back to Randolph County about 11 years ago and expects to continue to make this her home.
