Have you ever wondered where the Cherokee Bay Post Office was actually located in the 1860's to 1880's ?? Due to recent discussion (some rather heated) on the topic of where this post office was located, has prompted Scot Stout to contact the historical department of the U.S.P.S. for answers. For his efforts, photocopies of the original applications and maps that show the location of this post office were provided to him. The location, as supplied by the U.S.P.S., is indicated by the red circle. It appears evident that it was located on the old course of Current River, which has since been considerably straightened by mankind in its efforts for change.
