Senior students of the Amarillo High school who are to be graduated Thursday night will hear the baccalaureate sermon at the First Baptist Church tomorrow. Dr. Herbert Whiting Virgin, pastor of the church, will speak on a special theme of concern to the young people. The musical program will include an organ prelude, "St. Cecelia" by Batiste; a selection by the church orchestra; anthem, "Gloria" by Mozart; Offertory, "April" by Gaul; solo "Trusting" by Lieurance, sung by Miss Edith Seewald; "Festival Prelude" by Rockwell. The seniors and the High School faculty will gather at the annex of the Polk Street Methodist Church at 10:45 and from there will go in a body to the First Baptist church. The center row seats in the church auditorium has been reserved for the seniors. (undated newspaper clipping) Support of Business Men asked for High School Publications B. F. Fronabarger, Jr., head of the department of English at the high school, requests that business men co-operate by giving advertising for the school publications. In a statement made yesterday, Mr. Fronabarger said: "Mr. Business Man, are you sure that you have seen the value in pledging your support to the future citizens of this city by the advertising of your good will in the school publications? If you have seen this value could you be generous enough to show it to your business friends? The high school of Amarillo has two publications, "The Annual" and the "Cap Rock," which go into the homes of permanent citizens of Amarillo. It costs much money to put out these publications in a style suitable to a city of Amarillo's size. In the past years, your advertisements have helped to make these school publications a success. Can the youth of this city count you as one of their trusting friends? "What do you gain? Is the good will of a growing citizenship of value? By advertising in The Annual, you place yourself in a book which will remain for many years before the eyes of the entire family to which this book goes. Unconsciously, a favorable sentiment toward you is created in the hearts of the readers. These books which in after years are to remind the citizen of past pleasures will at the same time remind him of your aid. While the daily paper may bring you sudden returns from advertising, the "Annual" and "Cap Rock" will bring you returns in confidence and good will through many years. "Give the boys who call upon you an attentive hearing and think good, long thoughts before casting aside this opportunity of grasping the friendly hand of many young men and women who shall treasure these books in which you may find a place." 189
