High School Notes

As the season for baseball draws nearer, a spirit of enthusiasm, school spirit and excitement pervades the school. There are a number of boys trying to make the tam and it is certain that the high school will have a splendid one. Coach Willis says he expects the baseball team to be the best of the year. The inter-class games will be played within the next two weeks.

----------

The boys' basketball team went to Tulia Friday afternoon. The Amarillo boys made a splendid showing and fought bravely but the opposing team was victorious 38 to 15.

----------

Saturday afternoon a most exciting basket ball game was played between Amarillo girls and the Texline girls. The A. H. S. girls showed wonderful ability, winning over their ing teams was victorious 38 to 15.

(The preceding sentence appears to be a misprint repeating the last characters of the preceding paragraph. The score of this "most exciting" game is more likely Texline 16 and Amarillo 17.)

High School Notes

Friday was Junior Day in A. H. S. All Junior girls wore white middies and skirts, and the boys wore overalls and both flaunted the Junior colors were also hoisted on the flag pole early this morning.

The Seniors played the Juniors in a practice baseball game Thursday afternoon. The game was a hard fought one, but the Juniors lost with a score of 12 -1.

Work upon the new gymnasium to be erected upon the high school grounds will be begun in the immediate future.

At a class meeting held Friday afternoon by the Senior class it was unanimously decided to use the new gymnasium for their play. The proceeds of the play up to $500 will go towards the gymnasium fund. All exceeding that amount will be held in the treasury of the class.

(Assuming that the "Juniors 9 - Amarillo 12" baseball score on page 117 is the Spring 1920 season, this article might be dated Spring of 1919.)
