Class of '20 and High School Faculty Honoréd.

One of the gayest and most elaborate events of the week was the party given Saturday evening at the Wm. Boyce residence in honor of the Amarillo High School Faculty and the Senior Class, the hostesses being Mesdames Tom Currie, Alex Lumpkin and Wm. Boyce.

Upon arrival the guest were met at the door by miniatures Martha and George Washington, little Miss Simon Lumpkin and Master Albert Boyce. Two other small Colonial ladies, Cynthia Lumpkin and Anna Louise Boyce, met them at the stairs, escorting them to the rooms where they were to leave their wraps.

The hostesses of the occasion were dressed in the artistic costume of the Revolutionary days, while the spacious rooms were beautifully decorated in red and green carrying out sentiment of the occasion. Gorgeous red tulips added their delicate perfume and radiant coloring to the scene, while in the dining room graceful tendrils of smilax were twined about eh chandelier, and upon the dining room table a miniature cherry tree displayed its tempting fruit.

The evening's fun was begun with a suit case contest. Slips of paper, bearing a number were passed to each guest. Those drawing even number retired to one side of the room, while those with uneven numbers lined up on the other side. Miss Ruth Stanley and Gordon Butler represented the odd numbers while Miss Elizabeth Powell and Russell Newbold represented those with the even numbers. The odds came out victorious, and Miss Stanley and Mr. Butler were presented with delightful prizes.

Partners for the Grand March were chosen in most unique fashion. Slips of paper bearing the names of birds and animals were passed about, one set for the boys and one for the girls. Each boy in turn calling his partner by imitating the sort of animal or bird written upon his slip, and the girl having the corresponding slip answering. The March lead through the music room where small red paper hatchets hung suspended from the chandelier, each bearing a fortune. These were drawn by the guests, and were the source of much merriment when each was read aloud in turn. Following the March dancing and games occupied the remainder of the evening. Delicious refreshments of an ice molded pyramid shape with a cherry resting upon the pinnacle, white frosted cake and nuts, each plate daintily decorated with smilax, were served.

At a late hour the fun broke up. Faculty as well as students declaring it the most delightful party they had ever attended, and voting Mesdames Curry, Lumpkin and Boyce most charming hostesses.
