The first account of Joseph Harrison is Feb 21 1738 when he bought an item in the inventory of Mary Tyrus' estate.

The next record is April 4, 1741 when his first child was born.[see chart below] This record shows Joseph's wife was named Elizabeth [See Thomas Simmons page] and a list of their children. Joseph was godfather to Lucy Pritchard's son, Benjamin and Elizabeth Niblett's son John. Also a Anne Harrison was godparent to Joseph's youngest child Patty. John Harrison and Susanne were having children. They were having children in the time period as Joseph and Elizabeth.

John Harrison was a godparent for Simmons, Joseph's son. These children were all listed in the Albemarle Parish Register: Joseph’s children possibly christened in the Nottoway Church, which was on the Nottoway River in area that became Sussex Co. when it split from Surry. Joseph and Elizabeth's children were all recorded in the Albemarle Parish Register: The statement is made in the Albemarle register that Christopher Tatum, been near forty year clerk (cleric) of Nottoway Church. He was a vestryman too, in 1739, Were Joseph's children christened in the Nottoway Church? Christopher Tatum married Bridgit Scott. Bridgit's sister, Elizabeth, married Samuel Chappell, father of John Chappell who married Nanny Harrison. The Bethia Tatum who was godparent to William Harrison, son of Joseph, was probably daughter of Christopher and Bridgit Tatum, Bridgit and Elizabeth's mother was Emelia Bethya (spelled many different ways) Boyce who married John Scott.

1755/56 Tithables List for Sussex lists Joseph and John Harrison.
Sept 14, 1755 pg 122 -Joseph Harrison is mentioned in inventory of estate for Capt John Mason

1750 July Court Surry Co Court Records Joseph Harrison as plaintiff in a petition for debts vs Thomas Elridge

We have nothing more about Joseph until 1760 when he buys land in Brunswick Co. Three years later, Joseph made his will.

NOTES:
The statement is made in the Albemarle register that Christopher Tatum "been near forty year clerk (cleric) of Nottoway Church. He was a vestryman too, in 1739". Were Joseph's children christened in the Nottoway Church? Christopher Tatum married Bridgit Scott. Bridgit's sister, Elizabeth, married Samuel Chappell, father of John Chappell who married Nanny Harrison. The Bethia Tatum who was godparent to William Harrison, son of Joseph, was probably daughter of Christopher and Bridgit Tatum, Bridgit and Elizabeth's mother was Emelia Bethya (spelled many different ways) Boyce who married John Scott.
