     On June 30th, 1898, she was married to Dr., J. B. Riddle, a successful physician and surgeon of Morganton, N.C. Dr. Riddle was born September 17th, 1870, graduated from Medical Department of Vanderbilt University i the spring of 1898.

     F  CORRIE RAY, daughter of Baxter B. and Martha Ray, was born January 19th, 1886, and died September 4th, 1906. On august 20th, 1905 she married Shuford Abertheny and they lived in Hickory, N.C. He was killed in a railroad accident shortly after the death of his wife.
     Shuford and Corrie Ray Abertheny had one child, a girl:
    G  Corrie Elizaeth Abertheny.

     G  CORRIE ELIZABETH ABERTHENY, daughter of Shuford and Corrie Ray Abertheny was born May 21st, 1906 and died May 21st, 1907, at the age of one year. After her death a school was erected in China in her memory, which is called The Corrie Elizabeth School for Girls.

He served throughout the World War in the United States Army, and was a Sergeant in the eighty First Division, and during the last year of the War saw actie service in a Machine Gun Company in France.
     On November 26th, 1925 he married Mildred Hensley.

COLONEL ROBERT PICKENS
1795 - 1871

     C  ROBERTPICKENS, the youngest son of Captain Robert and Dorcas Hallum Pickens, was born in Anderson County, S.c., May 14th, 1795, and died in the house in which he was born, November 1st, 1871. He was a farmer by occupation, an influential citizen in his community Before the Civil war, he owned a great many slaves, an made his occupation as a farmer a cussess. Although but five years old at the time of his death, the writer can remember the home an some of the surroundings. The house was two stories, built of logs, weatherboarded and ceiled, as many homes were at that time. There were two large rooms down stairs, with the stairway leading up between them to the second story, where there were two other large rooms. The piazza in front ran almost the entire lenght of the building. Back of the two main rooms, thre was an adition containg bed rooms and dining room. From this there was a long covered passage leading bac to the kithen and pantry. In the front yard, thre were large oak trees furnishing a delightful shade. The greatest curiosity was thegrandfathe clock sitting on the floor in the right hand front room This old home was burned a few years ago.
     Death called Robert Pickens suddenly at night. Many people came to his funeral from all the surrounding country for he was loved and respected by all. he was buried in the Pickens graveyard.
     On November 17th, 1814 he married Martha (Patty) Smith, who was born August 9th, 1798, and died Decmeber 1st, 1835. Martha Smith was the niece of John smith, who married Robert Pickens' sister Martha Pickens, and sister of John and IsraelSmith who married daughters of John Pickens.
     The second wife of Robert Pickens was Nancy T. Pegg, whom he married aprl 11th, 1837. She was born May 14th, 1810 and died October 12th, 1873.

     D  MARGARET PICKENS, oldest daughter of Robert an Martha Smith Pickens, ws born at Three andTwenty, Anderson County, South Carolina, January 27th, 1816, and died near Cuming, Forsythe County, Georgia, June 14, 1905. She married Simeon P.Rogers, who was at the tiem of their marriage, working on here father's farm as overseer, July 23rd, 1832. They continued to live with her parents for a while but soon bought a farm near the old homestead. After several years, they moved to Frsyth County, Georgia and lived on a farm near Cumming Courthouse. Margaret Pickens Rogers was the mother of eleven children, and at the time of her death she was grandmother of forty-one children and had about as many great-grandchildren. She was 89 years old.
     The children of Simeon P. and Margaret Pickens Rogers were as follows:

     E  WILLIAM JEFFERSON ROGERS, son of Simeon P and Margaret Pickens Rogers was born July 8th, 1836. He served as a soldier in the Confederate Army, and his death, September 5th, 1864 was caused by a wound received in actin
     On October 27th, 1854, he married Amanda Chatham.
     The children of William Jefferson and amanda Chatham Rogers were:

     E  ROBERT PICKENS ROGERS, son of Simeon Pickens and Margaret Pickens Rogers was born May 13th, 1840. He was a farmer and lived a few miles west of Cumming, Forsyth County, Georgia. He also taught school and served his community n various ways. During the Civil War, he served more than three years in the Confederate Armyu.
     On December 23rd, 1866, he married Eliza Jane Estes, and they had the following children:

After Mr Manning's death she continued to live with her brothers and siters. She had no children of her own.

     D  MARGARET E. ROGERS, daughter of Simeon P. and Margaret Pickens Rogers was born May 10th, 1848, and died december 26th, 1913. On March 14th, 1878 she married a Mr. Kemp, who was born in 1844. As she did not have nay children of her own, she was able to give an orphan boy a home from babyhood to young man hood. She also gave another young man a home from the age of sixteen until he could complete a course in medical college.

     EMELINE F. ROGERS, daughter of Simeon P. amd Margaret Pickens Rogers, was born January 9th, 1853 and died June 22nd, 1918. She was buried near her home in cherokee County.
     On November 6th, 1873, she married Seaborn Westbrook, and they had the following children:

     E  LEVI WESLEY ROGERS, son of Simeon P. andMargaret Pickens Rogers was born November 10th, 1854, and died May 15th, 1890. A letter written by his mother just five days after his death gave the following information:
     "Levi Wesley Rogers was a consistent member of the church, was superintendent of his Sunday School, led in prayer, kept up family prayer at home. After a sickness of nineteen days with congreston of the brain he died in May 15th, 1890 at his home in DeKalb County, Georgia. His wife and seven children survived him."
     On Decmeber 20th, 1877 he married Annis Burgess and they had the followign children;
