Dunn, Presley Virgil (b. 11 OCT 1863, d. 02 NOV 1948)
Note: by family.
Note: Fayetteville Observer, July 11, 1907
Run Over
--------------------------------------
Mr. Press Dunn was hauling wheat to the thresher of Mr.
Henderson Fannin's farm Monday, when he fell from the load of
wheat, lighting between the mules and causing them to run away.
The wagon passed over his right arm, shoulder and ear, and
bruised him considerably. Dr. B.E. Noblitt was called to dress
the wounds which he found painful but not serious.

Note: Had a store Negro Hollow Road, now called North Howard Fitch
Road, later at the corner of Koonce Lane and Stuart's Creek. He
was a heavy drinker much of his life. Supposedly gave it up in
later years. As Edith Dunn Childress tells it, daughter Sidney
got fed up with Press' drunken attacks one day. She butted him
into the fireplace. After having his rear-end singed, Press
gave up drinking.

However, as Virgil Dunn recalled as a boy at Pa Dunn's, he and
brother Garland found Press' hidden jug of wine one day and
urinated in it. No one knows if Press ever knew the
difference.

Deal, Nancy A. (b. , d. 10 APR 1955)
Note: was born out of wedlock. And she lost her mother at an early
age. In those days, these were the worst two things that could
happen to a child. When her mother died, she was left to live
with her father and his wife, Nancy's aunt. Her step-mother
would not even allow Nancy to eat at the same table with the
other children.
