Note: 22 April 1907, sons W.R. Locker, J.M. Locker, C.R. Locker and
son-in-law W.T. George petitioned the chancery court of Lincoln
County to place Charly Locker's property in the hands of a
guardian. On the 23 April an injuction was granted preventing
the sale of the 164 acre farm. On the 24th Charly was summoned
to an inquest in chancery court.
Feeling somewhat feeble and not wishing to continue the family
dispute Charly asked brother Fent and son Charly to be
temporary receiver. They refused, so he chose R.E. "Bob" Koonce
who ran a nearby store. At the September 1907 session of court,
R.E. Koonce was ordered reciver "by consent of parties."
Charly -or his wife- became disatisfied with the situation and
he went to court. 29 April 1908, a jury report found Charly of
unsound mind. An 18 September decree therefore stated that
Charly was "a person of unsound mind to the extent he has not
the capacity to properly control and govern his property." 28
November 1908, Fenton Locker was made permanent guardian.
In the June 1909 session of court, Mary Ann Locker was indicted
for "open and notorious lewdness". 9 August, Fent locker
petitioned the court to clarify the position and remove any
rights she might have to Charly's property. 7 September a
decree ordered Fent to sell Charly's property.
14 May 1910, depositions were taken from Desso Land, Oscar
Patrick, A.W. Patrick, Lanzy Price, William .R. Walker and W.N.
Stewart, as witnesses to Mary Ann's debauches, and presented to
the court. 13 June, Fent's petition to divest Mary Ann of her
property rights was granted.
17 March 1910, a court order allowed Fent Locker to
re-mortgaged Charly's 164 acre farm. 13 SeptemberFent asked
court's permission to sell Charly's three ridge tracts. 14
December, they were sold to Mary Patrick for $160.
14 March 1913, J.M. Locker became his father' guardian until
the latter died in 1918.
