New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church
The New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church was begun in 1971. There were six ladies in the founding group, one if them was Margaret Smith.
The church is a member of the Baptist Association, with headquarters in Hattiesburg, MS.
Rev John Haley, Jr. is the pastor. Rev. Haley preaches at New Friendship Baptist Church on the second and fourth Sundays of each month, and at the Gin Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Silas, Alabama on the first and third Sundays. Marvin Smith serves as the deacon at New Friendship.
The average attendance is about ten each Sunday. The times of services are: Sunday School is at 10 a.m, and Morning Worship is from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. During the year, the church observes Homecoming Day, Pastor’s Appreciation Day and other important days.
Visitors are always welcome at New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. It is located on Old Avera Road, just inside the city limits of Leakesville.
