Mount Calvary Pentecostal Church is located at 9379 Highway 63 North, Lucedale. This is about ten miles south of Leakesville on Highway 63. Rev. Myron Sims has been the Pastor for twelve years. The church is now experiencing new growth and a real revival spirit among its congregation.

This church was established in 1938 by Rev. Robert Crocker and his wife, Pearlene. The church was formerly known as Midway Church. In 1988, fire destroyed the church building. However, as difficulties can make a person or a church stronger, this was true here. The church banned together, and another facility was built on property located just a mile north of the old church. Graham and Sue Crocker were the generous donors of the land where the church was built.

There are about 55 members of the church, and the times of their services are as follows: Sunday morning 10:00; Sunday night 6:00; and Thursday night 7:00.

The church is mission-minded and helps support five missionaries, who periodically come by to visit the church when they are in the area. The members of the church also practice helping aging members, when they are ill, by taking them flowers or a basket of fruit.

The music for the church services is led by Ripland Van Wrinkle or the pastor’s wife, Catherine Sims.

There are youth services, usually on Friday night, once a month. Jana Green has just been elected as the new Youth Leader, so new activities will be planned for the growing group of youth who now attend.

Special youth and children’s programs are planned for Christmas and Easter. At Halloween, the church always provides a hayride or chili supper instead of the usual "trick or treat" at this time.

Special programs are always planned for the church for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Also, a big annual event is Pastor’s Appreciation Day.

The members of the church enjoy exchanging gifts at Christmas - men for men and ladies for ladies. An amount is set for the cost of the gift. The ladies of the church also participate each year in selecting a lady’s name as their "Secret Pal".
