First United Pentecostal Church
The First United Pentecostal Church is located at the intersection of highway 63 and 57 on the North West side of Leakesville. The church has a beautiful building strategically located to minister to the citizens of Leakesville. Bro. I. D. Everette is the pastor. He has served the church for nineteen years. Prior to that he was co-pastor with his father in law, Rev. Robert Crocker, for five years.
The church was begun in 1947. The present building was built in 1955, however, additions have been made to the building since then. The membership of the church is approximately 95. They have a combined Sunday School and Praise Service that begins at 10 a.m. The evening service is 6 p.m. and Wednesday Bible Study at 7 p.m.
Bro Everette is also the state director of the denominations annual camp meeting. They have just concluded this meeting, held at the campground near Raymond, Mississippi, with a high attendance on Wednesday night, of over 4200 . These meetings involve the entire family.
The church has future plans to build a Family Life Center behind the present Sanctuary. July 21-25 the church will have Vacation Bible School at 6 p.m. in the evening. The local church is affiliated with the United Pentecostal national organization with offices in St. Louis, Missouri.
The local church supports both home and foreign missions. Visitors are always welcome to attend any services of the church.
