Celebrating its 107 year-old history, the church was established in 1896 as a Missionary Baptist Church by sixteen persons who lived in the Jonathan Community. Cedar Grove joined the Leaf River Baptist Association which, in turn, affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention in 1903.

    At present, Cedar Grove is a vibrant church of approximately 200 resident members of all ages. Besides senior and median-aged adults, they are blessed with many young couples with young children.

    Mr. Bill Ricks has led the music in the church for 24 years. Under his capable direction and leadership, many people are involved in the musical ministry opportunities, which are provided for praise and worship, study and fun. There are outstanding children’s musicals, adult cantatas for the holidays, a prison outreach at Christmas, a ladies ensemble, as well as solo opportunities.

       There is a full range of youth activities planned - for spiritual growth and fun. Vacation Bible School is also held during each Spring/Summer.

    The times of the regular church services are: Sunday - Sunday School 10 A.M.; Worship Service 11 A.M.; Discipleship Training at 5 P.M. each Sunday, following by the evening worship service at 6 P.M. Wednesday - 7 P.M. Bible Study and Prayer Meeting.

    Recently, the church has beautifully renovated their church facilities and landscaped the grounds in a pastoral setting. They say they have a small church friendliness and welcome, but with big church talent. Cedar Grove has a heart for missions and service to God and the community. Everyone is welcome to visit and join in their multiple ministries with them as they serve the Lord in this area..
