BETHEL INDEPENDENT GOSPEL CHURCH

The Bethel Independent Gospel Church began in the 1890’s, in the Piave Community, as a Methodist Protestant Church. They later became a Congregational Methodist Church, and part of the previous old structure is incorporated as a part of the present buildings. After many years as a Methodist Church, the members voted to become an Independant Gospel, or non-denominational church, about 15 years ago. The church has had Methodist, Baptist and Church of God ministers as pastors. Presently, Rev. Danny Graham, who grew up in the Piave Community, is pastor. He has been pastor for two years. Bro. Graham has a wife and three children.

The church has sevices every Sunday with Sunday School at 10 a.m., morning worship at 11 a.m., with evening worship at 5 p.m. Prayer Meeting is on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The church has special music groups to sing at the church on a regular basis. They have an average attendance of about 20 in Sunday School and Worship. The pastor’s wife leads Children’s Church once a month, while others are in the morning worship service.

The pastor states that the church encourages visitors to join them in Bible Study and Worship. Homer Tucker is a long-time member and Steward in the church. The church was originally located in Greene County; but, when they relocated some time ago, the church building was just in the edge of Wayne County.
