FAITH PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

Faith Presbyterian Church was established November 13, 1998, with 38 charter members. Their purpose is to share the doctrine taught by Christ and His apostles to all people. Mission emphasis has been to support the efforts of:

Joanna L. Brooks, Short-term missionary with Mission to the World

The Children of Abraham ministry of Dr. Bassam Chedid

South American efforts of Ruth Dinkins

Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi

Foreign efforts of Dr. Dale Younce, Professor at the University of Mobile

The Wales Goebel Ministry

Greene County High School Fellowship of Christian Students

The men of the church are developing a tape ministry to provide sermons to individuals unable to attend church; or, who may have missed a Sunday sermon. They continue their personal evangelistic outreach.

The Women of Faith have scheduled inspirational teas for the ladies of our community; in 2000 they established the Faith Feeders Program providing twice a month dinners to deserving and appreciative individuals; playing bingo games with residents of Turner Duvall Retirement Village, and providing the residents a buffet each November. In December, they have made and provided greeting tray cards on Christmas Day for hospital and nursing home residents.

The church has supported the ladies annual efforts toward Backyard Vacation Bible Schools. This venue evolved since they do not yet have a permanent church building. Future church construction is soon planned, within the city limits, on the block formerly known as the Basila tennis courts.

The church currently meets in the Methodist Church Building on Old Avera Road, with the following times of services: Sunday School 9:30 A.M.; Worship 10:30 A.M.; Wednesday Service at 7:00 P.M. at the home of Gertie Lee Moore, Leakesville.

The Pastor Search Committee continues their efforts toward securing a permanent Pastor. In the meantime, Dr. Dale Younce is serving as Interim Pastor.
