FIRST UNITED PENTECOSTAL CHURCH OF McLAIN

The First United Pentecostal Church of McLain is a church that continues to carry on the tradition of leaving cherished memories in the hearts of people in the community. It is located at 204 South Magnolia Avenue, McLain, and they have about 90 members. Rev. R. T. Strain has been Pastor there for three years.

The history of the church goes back to the early 1950’s when Sister Roberta Goff started regular prayer meetings in her home. Through the prayers of those who attended, a burden was felt for the work of the Lord. This led to the establishment of the church on July 17, 1952 by Minister Dennis Beach.

Much hard work and long hours of labor went into the construction of the first church. The ladies also worked untiringly baking and selling pies to raise the money needed to buy the materials to build the church. As time passed and the church grew, a larger building was needed. Pastor Marshall McCloud, along with the congregation, worked together to build the beautiful building that is currently being used. The church "stands tall" and is alive and well as they face the 21st Century. Many pastors and saints, who have already passed on, have left their influence on the church. Many lives have been changed, and they give God the glory for all that has been accomplished. They pray everyone in the community will experience the great life that only Jesus can give.

First United Pentecostal also has an Outreach Department that is happy to help in any way. This includes a Home Bible Study where they are glad to go into your home and share with you an understanding of God’s Word. Feel free to call (601) 753-2626 for more information, if you are interested in this program.

The times of their regular church services are: Sunday - 10:00 A.M. and 6:15 P.M.; Tuesday - 7:00 P.M. Prayer Meeting; and Wednesday - 7:00 P.M. Service. They also have special services and activities for the youth to help them grow spiritually and mentally healthy.
