The rest of the family had departed from this home. You will recall that three of the Davis daughters died in the early 1850s; Jane, Rebecca and Rachel and that two daughters married and moved to their own homes; Hannah Ann and Elizabeth.
David married a second time in 1852 to the widow of William Bowman. William and Sarah Bowman had six children. Their older daughters were Artimesa, Talitha and Nancy while the other three younger ones were William, Sarah and Elisha.
The older daughters moved away from their mother. Artimesa moved to Lewis County; Talitha married James A. 0 'Neal, a very important and respected business man of Tampico; Nancy perhaps married, however we have found no more information about her. Information concerning Elisha Bowman has also escaped our search. So in 1860, we found only William and Sarah moved with their mother into the Davis house.
Shown for the first time in the record of Davis children are David and Sarah's young daughters, Hannah and Mary Jane. They were the half sisters to the other members of the David Davis children.

David's health had been failing; on the 20th of August in 1860 he set to the task of preparing a will and this is what he said:
"In the name of God, Amen -(cont.) -->I David D. Davis of the town of Tampico in the County of Benton in the State of Oregon being of sound mind and memory but in feeble health do therefore make ordain publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament."
