This is the second store in the brick block going southward. It is owned today by Sally Simmons, wife of Roger Simmons. Several people remember it being the old theater. I have very little information on the theater itself. In fact I wish I had a picture of the inside of this store when it was a theater. I am presuming that during that time the store was one large room. Today the store is in two sections.
As of this writing the store is vacant. The only tenant that I have known was Sally, however, there have been many merchants in this building over the years. At one time it was a General Mercantile store. David and Francis Stewart ran a clothing store. Fred Aplin ran a music store. There was Kay's Antique, Greg Williams Drafting, and Fern Wynn ran a hardware store there along with Dink Knowles. I was told that the theater was ran by a man called Popcorn Smith. It was also believed that he was a police officer too.
I am open to any more information on this building. Please feel free to contact me if you can add to any of this.
