The Judah Cemetery is proving to be a very interesting cemetery. So far it is the only one that I know of in my area of surveying that was moved off Camp Rucker. I am still in the process of gathering information on the people who were removed to this site. There are local people who were living at the time that move took place and I am still conducting interviews with them. At some point in time I will be placing that history on this site. In the meantime I will try to answer any questions that you may have regarding this cemetery.
According to the 1907 and 1910 maps there was a Piney Grove Church that the locals also referred to as the Judah Church in the area of what we now know as Campground Road and Hanchey Field. Some have even told me that the hill where Hanchey heliport is was man made and the church stood at that location. It was disbanded when the Army took over. I do not know at this point where the people went but I am still trying to find out.
